About Dev Uthani Ekadashi
Prabodhini Ekadashi, widely known as Dev Uthani Ekadashi (also Devutthana or Deothan Ekadashi), is the day on which Vishnu is traditionally believed to wake from his cosmic sleep (Yoga Nidra). It falls on Kartika Shukla Ekadashi, the eleventh day of the bright half of Kartika, about eleven days after Diwali. Devotees fast, worship Vishnu in the evening with songs and offerings to 'wake' him, and in many homes the marriage of Tulsi with Vishnu (Tulsi Vivah) is celebrated on this day or the next.
