Last updated: April 12, 2026Astrolal Technologies Pvt. Ltd. ("Astrolal," "we," "us," or "our") explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use our website and services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
Personal Information (provided by you)
- Full name and email address (for account creation)
- Date, time, and place of birth (for Kundli generation -- our core service)
- Phone number (optional, for consultation bookings)
- Payment information (processed securely by Razorpay -- we do not store card details)
- Profile photo (optional)
- Family members' birth data (if added to your Family Vault)
Usage Information (collected automatically)
- Device type, browser, operating system
- IP address and approximate location (city-level only)
- Pages visited, features used, session duration
- Referring website or app
- In-app behavior (charts generated, reports viewed, consultations booked)
Communication Data
- Messages sent to Panditji astrologers through our platform
- Support tickets and customer service conversations
- Feedback and reviews submitted
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Generate your Vedic Kundli, birth chart, and astrological reports
- Provide personalized daily horoscopes, transit alerts, and Dasha predictions
- Process consultation bookings with Panditji and Guruji astrologers
- Send notifications you have opted into (daily horoscope, transit alerts)
- Process payments and issue receipts
- Improve our AI models and recommendation systems (anonymized, aggregated data only)
- Detect fraud and ensure platform security
- Comply with Indian law (including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023)
We do NOT use your information for:
- Selling your personal data to third parties
- Targeted advertising on other platforms
- Making legally or financially significant automated decisions about you
3. Birth Data & Astrological Information
Your birth date, time, and place of birth are the core inputs to our service. We treat this data with the highest sensitivity because:
- It is used solely to generate astrological charts and interpretations
- It is stored in encrypted form in our database
- It is never sold, licensed, or shared with any third party for any purpose
- You may delete your birth data at any time from Settings > Account > Delete Birth Data
- AI models trained on our platform use only anonymized, aggregated astrological patterns -- never your individual data
Astrological interpretations provided by Astrolal AI are generated using your birth data as input but are not medical, financial, or legal advice (see our Disclaimer).
4. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We share data with the following service providers who process it on our behalf:
- Razorpay (Payment Processing): Receives payment details for subscription and consultation billing. Subject to their own privacy policy. We do not store card or bank details.
- Anthropic (AI Interpretations): The text of your chart query is sent to Claude API for generating interpretations. Anthropic's data processing agreement ensures this data is not used for model training.
- Vercel (Website Hosting): Our web app is hosted on Vercel. Server logs may include IP addresses.
- Railway / Fly.io (API Hosting): Our backend API is hosted on Railway. Birth data calculations happen here.
- Google Analytics (anonymized): We use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization enabled.
- SendGrid / Resend (Email): For sending horoscope emails, OTPs, and receipts.
- Twilio (SMS/WhatsApp): For OTP verification and WhatsApp notifications (opt-in only).
We do NOT share your data with: other users, astrologers beyond what is necessary for your consultation, marketers, data brokers, or any government authority unless legally compelled.
6. Data Storage & Security
- All data is stored on servers located in India (for Indian users) and EU (for European users)
- Birth data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption
- All data transmission uses TLS 1.3 (HTTPS)
- We conduct quarterly security audits
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt (we never store plaintext passwords)
- Consultation chat logs are encrypted and accessible only to you and your astrologer
- We maintain breach notification procedures as required under the DPDP Act, 2023
7. Your Rights (DPDP Act 2023)
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Correct any inaccurate personal data
- Erasure: Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Grievance Redressal: Raise a complaint with our Data Protection Officer
- Nomination: Nominate a person to exercise your rights in case of incapacitation

8. Children's Privacy
Astrolal is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Parents generating Kundlis for their children may do so without creating an account for the child. If you believe we have inadvertently collected a child's data, contact us at privacy@astrolal.com and we will delete it within 48 hours.
9. International Users (NRI / GCC)
If you are accessing Astrolal from outside India (UAE, Qatar, UK, USA, etc.):
- Your data may be transferred to India for processing
- Such transfers are protected by standard contractual clauses
- UAE users: We comply with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection
- European users: We comply with GDPR. Our legal basis for processing birth data is your explicit consent.
- You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account
10. Retention Period
- Account data: Retained while your account is active + 90 days after deletion request
- Birth data: Deleted immediately upon your request
- Consultation logs: Retained for 12 months, then anonymized
- Payment records: Retained for 7 years as required under Indian tax law
- Anonymous analytics data: Retained for 24 months
