About Holika Dahan
Holika Dahan, also called Chhoti Holi, is the sacred bonfire lit on the full moon evening (Purnima) of Phalguna, the night before the festival of colours. It recalls the story of the young devotee Prahlada, who was saved by Vishnu, while the demoness Holika was burned. Families gather around the community fire to pray, make offerings and roast the new season's grain.
