Tulsi Vivah is the ceremonial wedding of the holy basil plant (Tulsi), worshipped as the goddess Vrinda and as a form of Lakshmi, to Vishnu in the form of the Shaligram stone or an image of Krishna. Our calculation places it on Kartika Shukla Dwadashi, the twelfth day of the bright half of Kartika, but many families perform it on Prabodhini (Dev Uthani) Ekadashi itself, and some on any evening up to Kartik Purnima. It is especially loved in Maharashtra, where it is performed in almost every home that keeps a Tulsi plant.
